My name is Naquetta Ricks, and I’m honored to be the Democratic candidate for the University of Colorado Board of Regents in the Sixth Congressional District.
I’m running because I am committed to seeing that every Colorado child has access to an affordable college education in this state. Access to the American Dream means access to a great education that will allow them to compete in the global economy of the 21st Century. We’ve faced years of cuts to higher education, years of tuition hikes—and too many regents spending too much time focused on narrow and ideological pet issues instead of on lowering the cost of college for Colorado’s kids.
If Colorado is going to become more competitive in the global economy, that means making investments in giving our kids access to a high-quality, affordable higher education. I know what it means to work hard and create your own opportunity. I came to this country to achieve the American Dream. I’ve worked hard as a small businesswoman helping other people do the same. It’s why I went to CU as a working professional—to get a great graduate education that will help me build a better life for my family. As a single mom and small business owner, I know that it’s a good education that opens the door to opportunity.
I hope to earn your support for my candidacy. Thank you again for visiting.
